The Insurance and Risk Management Roundtable History and Background
The Insurance and Risk Management Roundtable is an organization of principals from fourteen of the nation's leading and most progressive insurance brokers. The purpose of the group is to exchange best practices ideas in management and marketing techniques and to provide a national resource to local market conditions.
The group was founded in 1972 as an outgrowth of a Minnesota CPCU Chapter project. It was first conceived by founding member Amos Rosenbloom. Amos desired to form an organization where non-competing agents could share both marketing and organizational ideas and concepts in an informal atmosphere. The primary criterion for membership was the ability to bring a unique talent or perspective to the group.
The group meets each year in April to focus on how each member can function better as an insurance agency and improve service to their clients. Meetings are held for four days. Over half of the original members are still involved in the organization. Members lost through acquisitions or retirements have been replaced. Several founding members continue in an emeritus status.
The meetings are held annually and are dedicated to informal discussions in a small group setting. The group will invite up to three outside guest speakers consisting of high level insurance executives, agency management consultants, or other individuals the group believes will add to or enhance the dialogue. The organization is unique in the stability and attendance exhibited by its members. Most consider the group a priority and credit it for the continued personal and organizational growth they have achieved. Together the organizations represent firms with revenues in excess of $600 million and 2,500 employees.
